Article Marketing for Beginners in 2009
Welcome to the amazing world of article marketing! The stories you have heard are true.
Article Marketing can literally drive your entire internet business to whole new levels of traffic and sales. If you are ready and willing to put in a little hard work and maintain your integrity and credibility, then you are about to start a journey that is going to change your entire life.
THAT is how powerful this can be.The very first thing you need to do in order to begin a successful and rewarding article marketing campaign in 2009 and beyond, is to understand the concepts of article marketing in today’s world. It is so important that you start out with the right mindset in order to prosper.
Now, I know that you’d rather be hearing all the really cool tips, tricks and techniques instead of reading about concepts and theory, but listen to me when I say this…If you don’t understand and practice the concepts I am about to tell you, then 99 times out of 100, you are going to fall flat on your face. Trust me, I’ve seen it happen tens of thousands of times and I am frankly tired of watching people fail.
Before writing the first word of an article, it is important for you to realize why you are doing it in the first place. That is where the proper mindset comes into play. You should be writing this article for several reasons. Let’s take a look at a few of those reasons below.
Direct Traffic
In direct contrast to how article marketing has been done over the years, you must not write your articles thinking about the massive amount of backlinks you could be getting by submitting it to publishing websites on the internet such as ezinearticles.com or websitearticles. net.,i cannot tell you how many times I have seen an article marketer’s articles slowly become a bunch of “crap” because they cared less about the information they were providing and more about just getting that backlink out there. HUGE MISTAKE!
These backlinks are becoming less powerful every day. The search engines have figured out that people are mass-submitting to get backlinks and those who have fallen into the “link trap” and written a bunch of “crappy” articles are going to be slapped just as hard as anyone in the history of internet marketing.Instead, you should concentrate on giving your reader information that they haven’t seen before…something that really catches their attention and makes them stay on your article
page. You see, by the time they get to your article, chances are that they have already seen other web pages on the subject, so you need to blast something innovative and fresh right in their face to keep them reading your article. Those who are talented enough to write in this manner, or those who can learn, will be the next generation of article marketing experts and working professionals. I believe that Google wants fresh and new content that isn’t found anywhere else online or offline.
Content that keeps people interested and gives them a good online experience! As a by-product, when the readers remain interested throughout your article, they eventually get to your resource links and click-through to your website (direct traffic) interested, trusting and ready to implement your strategy to solve their problem.
Since backlinks are becoming less and less of a factor, this must be the mindset you take from here on out. Don’t be one of those folks who write hastily written, “crap” articles. The readers will not keep reading, they will never get to your resource links and they will never get to your website. And since the backlinks are quickly becoming ineffective, you are frankly wasting your time
Building Trust and Credibility
Take a look around the internet today. Pick any search term you want and look at the results you get. Which websites would you stay on? Which ones would you consider buying from? Which ones do you trust?
The answer:
The ones with well-written, professional content that is interesting and flows from one basic idea to more detailed information as you move along.
Now you can see why it is so important to write your articles in this manner. If someone finds your article and sees the same old stuff they’ve already seen, they will hit the back button and never think about you or your product/service again (especially if it’s written in a “crap”manner)! Or even worse, they will remember your product/service and immediately associate it with amateur or fly-by-night companies. On the other hand, if you do write your articles in a professional and well-written manner, readers will instantly begin thinking of you as an authority in your niche. Although you have seen this touted as an article marketing benefit for years, a lot of people have overlooked it as being a secondary or even meaningless one. Today, with the decreasing power of article directory backlinks, it is now one of the most important. I have seen it many times throughout the years, marketers who write professionally and make it interesting at the same time, have not only built trust and credibility with their prospects, many have gone on and become “gurus” in their respective niches.
Convincing the Readers
An important step in your writing is to be able to convince the reader to click through to your website. Since direct traffic is becoming so important, it would be useless to write an article that gives them the complete answer. Always lead a reader toward your solution, but never get them all the way there. Remember this as you’re giving them that compelling content they haven’t seen before. There is a thin line between convincing a customer to click through to your website and outright telling them to do so or trying to trick them into it. It is true that you should give a “call to action” to the reader, but you should give them a reason to click through to your website before telling them to do so.
There is an excellent resource called “The Article Marketing Handbook” which gives some great advice on this very topic. Without giving everything a way, it explains how you can subconsciously draw a reader into clicking your hyperlink before they even get to it. Basically, it involves gaining trust and credibility within your article body. As I have mentioned all along, this is one of the differences between article marketing of yesterday and the article marketing of tomorrow. It’s not about backlinks, it’s about getting the reader to your website.
Tricking the Search Engines?
Let me just ask you a quick question. If the search engines know that a person is masssubmitting articles to trick them into thinking they have an authority website, do you think they would sit back and let that person continue to get those high results? Or do you think they would do something about it? I believe that they do indeed know what is going on and, as of January 1st, 2009, are beginning to “slap” them and give back the true authority statuses and top spots to the websites that are actually providing the valuable authoritative content that the search engines want to provide to their users.Every single day as I surf the internet marketing forums and blogs, I see people telling each other that they need to write as many articles as they can and submit them to as many article directories as they can. In doing so, they will get tons of backlinks to their websites and they will rise in the search engines. For those of you who are new to article marketing, when you hear this, DON’T LISTEN! And for those of you who already know of the mass-submission technique, you should dismiss it as a “has been” article marketing technique that has had it’s time in the limelight and will no longer help your business.
Summing it Up
So there you have it, the “proper” mindset to succeed in article marketing in 2009 and beyond. Having the proper mindset is vitally important to article marketers who are just starting out and for those who want to continue being successful. If you remember the things we discussed above and forget about the backlinks to your website, then you have a head start over 99% of the article marketers out there today!
Having the proper mindset is the very first step to creating a productive, satisfying and profitable article marketing campaign. Are your articles unproductive? Not getting the traffic you’ve heard others get so excited about? If you are serious about article marketing, then stop spinning your wheels.
