Benefits of having OWN established blog

Benefits of having your very own .
I feel like making one of those lists that you see all the time on Digg except that this will be focused to all of you big time bloggers, and hopefully even read by some of the smaller bloggers in hope to inspire them to keep on blogging to see what their blog can become in the near future,and start making  money online.

  1. The mecca for the smaller blogs…

    If your blog ever gets as big as Shoemoney’s or John Chow’s your blog will really become a bible or an encyclopedia for all blogging related questions. You blog will become a headquarter for mindless blogging newbies in hope of some link love and traffic from the bigger blogs.

    The smaller blogs will worship your blog so much they’ll visit it daily just to see a picture of your lunch.

  2. A free pass to write about whatever the heck you want…

    Usually when blogs are very small they go through a transition, this transition happens when the blog owner has so many ideas he wants to write about many different things in his blog, when truly his blog focuses on just one thing that is completely unrelated to what he wants to write about. Usually when the blog owner is forced to not write about something he wants he’ll start to ignore the blog and eventually he’ll leave it for dead.

    On the other hand, When your blog is big you get to write about anything! Not just because people will admire what you have to say but because Google and the other search engines will index your content as soon as you post it and possibly even place it in the first page of their search results so you’ll not only have happy readers but you’ll also end up getting a lot of search engine traffic as well.

  3. Viral blog bitching….

    Once your blog gets so big that you get bored from reading all the suck up comments you’ll start to notice a few haters popping up. These haters were made by god to do just one thing, and that is hate. They’ll hate on everything you have to say and everything you post. They’ll hate so much that they often even write posts bashing your posts and bashing your blog.

    The best thing about these blog bitching haters is that they not only give you free advertising, but they also give you free backlinks! I don’t care what you call me, as long as you give me a link and it’s dofollow you might as well say I’m a pathetic blogger with the writing skills of a 6 year old.

    If you haven’t noticed, John Chow gets almost a guaranteed daily link from at least one blog hater. Maybe the hater is hating about a review he just posted or maybe the hater is bitching about John chow making more money than him, but you can be sure of one thing you won’t ever see John bitching about that free backlink he gets.

  4. Clones!..

    A great thing about being a popular blogger is that you’ll start to see clone blogs appear out of nowhere.

    You’ll see people making fan sites about you and even buying domains with spelling mistakes in them with the small hope that they’ll get some traffic from some guy with chubby fingers that can’t spell a domain properly to save his life.

    These people are just looking for one thing, and that is to make a quick buck off the popular blogger’s name. Most of these clones sites are just sad attempts to recreate the blog of a popular blogger. In the worst and most peculiar cases you’ll see that the layouts of these sites could have been made to look better if they were created by a blind 3 year old kid with Paint.

Affiliate Niche Guide

Millions of pet owners (especially dog owners) around the world choose to travel with their pets every single day. This can be for a wide variety of reasons, including pleasure and an extension of “pet pampering”, moving, temporary displacement from home, etc. At first glance this might seem like a small niche…but think again! There are some massive money making income opportunities here to help pet owners find hotels, book airline tickets, vacation packages, buy travel products, etc.

There’s plenty of stable and ultra high target traffic to go after in a way that’s very scalable in this niche that can keep any affiliate busy and building income on for a long time.

Although percentage payouts may seem low at typically anywhere from 1-10%, the dollar amount of travel purchases can be quite large.

As an example, payouts on a confirmed hotel stay through Hotels.com are 5%. From the search i done, it’s very common for many hotel bookings to be in the $250-$1000 range, and can obviously go much higher depending on the stay. However even in the $250-$1000 range, you are looking at an affiliate payout anywhere from $12.50 to $50.00 and conversions can be extremely high.

There’s a ton of value you can add as an affiliate by helping people find EXACTLY what they’re looking for and fantastic opportunities for cross selling, especially if you build an email list along the way.

This is a HUNGRY and motivated audience ready to make a purchase if you provide good value and stay specific with your targeting and keywords. For a great example of a highly respected affiliate site in this niche, check out http://www.dogfriendly.com , who targets people travelling with dogs from all angles and has even been recognized by Forbes several times.

Who…Why…What

Pet owners of just about any kind can be targeted (even bird owners!). In general, your primary audiences can be: People Who Travel With Their Dogs

Subcategories

  • Large Dogs
  • Small Dogs
  • People Who Travel With Cats
  • People Who Travel With Exotic Pets

However, one of the largest and most motivated audiences for pet travel information are dog owners, followed somewhat by cat owners. The motivation level for “pet travel” purchases is typically higher with dog owners for 2 primary reasons: It’s much more difficult to just leave a dog at home and have a friend or family member check on them every couple days, like you can with

A cat. Dogs are simply much more human dependent on a daily basis than cats are.

Dog owners are generally more inclined to want to bring their dog along with them on vacation or other type of travel simply for pleasure and companionship. Another reason to consider about dog owners’ motivation level is they are a bit more concerned about information gathering before bringing their dog with them, since they know dogs can generally be more of a concern behaviour wise vs. cats.

–Please don’t think that i have anything against cats here. :) …just the way it is for the most part with this niche. As you target various aspects of this niche, keep the the most likely motivation behind the search top of mind when writing an article, building your site, landing pages, and your ad text…

What i mean by keeping that motivation in mind that for example is people looking at luxury hotels or fun vacation packages are much more likely travelling with their pet for pleasure, so you’d probably want to make sure and point out any additional “pampering” services offered by a hotel, and push those emotional hot buttons of the enjoyment of bringing their pet along and not leaving him or her behind. On the other side of that are people travelling or staying somewhere else with their pet out of necessity. Those people are much more likely to be concerned about logistics, facts, and cost.

Targeting your Niche – Suggested Approaches

Key Points to Adding Good Value Don’t be lazy! This niche will take some work, but there are huge rewards to be had.

If you go the extra mile and do some legwork for people, they will respond. Realize that one of the best things you can do for these people is to take the extra time and research pet policies from hotels, airlines, car rental companies, etc. Lay it out for them so it’s easy to make a decision without having to go to another website or do another search. Some of the primary concerns are things such as: Logistics of hotel stays (i.e. – does their pet need to be kennelled? Can it be left alone?) Extra costs – Deposits (refundable or non-refundable?), extra cost per night, extra fees by airlines, etc.

Products to Promote

  • -> Hotel Bookings
  • -> Airline Tickets
  • -> Car Rentals
  • -> Pet Travel Gear
  • -> Pet Meds
  • -> Other Misc. Pet Products
  • -> Training

Additional Income Tip: Write some manuals or “tips” guides and sell them to people via PayPal on your site. This can be a great way to add to your income from this niche, especially if you have a subscriber list.

Banner advertising is one of the methods that you might want to use for promoting your business website or blog. It will cost you a fair amount of money to use , but if you advertise your on the right sites and blogs, they can provide you a fairly good return.

To start a banner ad campaign, you first need to design a banner ad. For a small fee, you can ask a graphic designer to create a nice looking banner ad for you.

Even though you are not the one that will create the banner, you do need to know clearly what types of banners are excellent for generate traffic so that you know how to request the designer to create a successful banner ad for you.

There are several things to keep in mind when putting up a successful banner ad.

The main purpose of your banner ad is to draw the attention of the visitors long enough to entice them to click on the ad to look for your offer or website so that you can generate income.

A big mistake that people often fall into is that they are putting too much info into the very small space of their banner ad. It is not necessary to include good description, company name and logo into the ad.

Using the right words is more important than correct grammar. If you find that three words will create a powerful slogan or phrase that can catch a lot of attention, then go for it.

For logo and company inclusion into your banner, they are only helpful if your company or business already have good reputation and popular.

The color and fonts also play an important role. When you banner ad show up on the publishers sites and blogs that you are advertising with, you will want your banner stand out from the other banners appearing next to yours. You have very little time to impress the visitors. So, you may consider using bright colors with a contrasting color for the fonts.

Once your banner ad is ready, it is time to search for the sites and blogs that you can place your banner ad on. In these couple of years, are widely sold in blogs. So, you should start advertising your banner ad on blogs that are related to your products or business. Most of the blogs will have an advertising page stating the pricing and traffic stat.

Dmoz Selling To BOTW

It is unknown whether a sale would change Google’s use of Dmoz for its own directory or would prompt Google to reconsider how much weight it gives the sites linked within . For those who don’t know, Google is still relatively cozy with in that it maintains a Google Directory that is a duplicate copy of the .org content. also is still considered a great place for your site to be listed to gain premium Google link power that helps your PageRank.

Google has also made clear that it considers the selling of inclusion in a directory tantamount to selling links. Many directories have experienced a severe lowering of their PageRank that have effectively made links (and inclusion) less valuable to potential buyers.

Since is a free directory with moderators who decide whether a site is included or not, Google still gives their coveted Google juice to sites listed in .

A listing in .org is not free. It charges a hefty $249.99 review fee which is a prerequisite for inclusion. makes the point in bold font that their review for inclusion is not a guarantee of inclusion in their BOTW Submit Terms of Service.

Many website owners feel that even the appearance of selling links leads to PageRank reduction. is an old, established directory with lots of quality listings similar to Yahoo, which also sells inclusion reviews and suffers no repercussions from Google either.

- If , will it merge the directories and charge for inclusion reviews?

- Will Google continue to mirror the results for its directory?

- Will any of this impact the Google juice your sites get from ?

and its paid editors may be exactly what needs to turn its quality around.
