Finding MLM Leads Thru Creativity

Not too many years ago we found mlm leads the old fashioned way and we called it work. I’m not sure that’s really changed except now the working process is a little different. We use our technology more today and bronze a lot less. Being creative in finding mlm leads however can be very productive.

The business partners I found that wanted to work from home while making money came from all walks of life. The first active partner I found had less money than me and we decided to pool our resources and energy to find those people that wanted to work at home.

We had 1,000’s of business cards made and put them on car windshields at airports late at night. While doing that we had hundreds of signs printed (we posted them all over) with snappy little sayings and a 800 voice mail box with a pre-recorded message. You could leave your information at the end of the message and we’d call you back.

Needless to say most people wouldn’t follow through once they found out that it was networking marketing because of previous experience or bad publicity they’d heard from someone along the way. We also handed out little 3×5 cards we had printed up in color’s and handed them to people we found during the day at grocery store parking lots.

That resulted in handing out 100’s per day. And again a little blurb about being a wholesale distributor associated with a home based business opportunity. Call an 800# listen to the message, leave your info and we’d call you back.

All this activity was pretty inexpensive and yielded lots of activity. The people that did respond on a positive note were invited to a business opportunity meeting at a local restaurant where my partner and I put on a hour or so meeting about our business. Gradually we trained others to do the same thing. Yes, in a way it was hard work but it payed off for certain.

Today people use computer systems to find recruits, do presentations, training, record keeping and sending out follow letters and even voice emails.

What an exciting time for affiliate programs, network marketing and the work at home jobs crowd. Online systems and a few bucks makes what we did look ridiculous. The time spend by us could have been cut down by 95% had we have had access to the modern tools of today to help us find mlm leads for our networking business.

When home business success comes it does not come by luck. In fact, when you analyze the characteristics of the most successful home based business entrepreneurs you start to realize that they all share four key traits in common.

The purpose of this short article is to point those traits out to you so that you can do some honest self reflection to see where you score in relation to these four key factors. I will say it bluntly, if you possess all four of these traits you are absolutely guaranteed to meet success in your home business efforts.

The first trait that every successful home business entrepreneur displays is they all have a specific dream. Whether it be setting up a successful ecommerce website or flipping real estate, they all aspire to fulfill a clear vision from the outset. The dream, in the beginning may be somewhat vague, but all successful home business entrepreneurs know the end to what they desire and hold this vision vividly in there imagination from day one.

The next trait that every successful home business entrepreneur displays is an undying faith in their abilities to make their dream come true. They don’t know what the word failure means. Their faith in their ability to see their dreams into fruition is so complete that they know without a shadow of a doubt that it is only a matter of time before their success comes.

The third trait that all successful home business entrepreneurs display is they are highly persistent when it comes to seeing that their dreams become a reality. They know that success will not come overnight and that it will take a great deal of effort to see there dreams become reality, so for all that tasks that they must undertake on there path to success, all highly successful home business entrepreneurs display undying persistence.

The last trait that all successful home business entrepreneurs display is they are all highly disciplined individuals. There’s quite a bit of work to be done walking the path to success and this work can’t get done without a high degree of discipline.

Highly successful home business entrepreneurs are extremely disciplined in their approach to success because they know that through keeping to a strict regime they will see their home business dreams come true much faster and to a high degree and with a lot less frustration than taking a less structured approach.

That’s it. How did you score? If you can honestly say to yourself that you do display all four of these traits then I can honestly tell you that you are on the fast track to success. Remember, never forget your dream, keep your faith, and be highly persistent and highly disciplined in your home business efforts and you will guarantee your home business success!

Have you ever gone to a networking event and talked to someone about what they do? I certainly have and I am often quite amazed by the total range of services that they offer the public. This is not unusual for a small business, but I begin to wonder what their focus is and I also wonder what they specialize in. I don’t think they realize that what they are doing is not good for their business.

Can you imagine doing business with someone that shines your shoes, talks about leadership and also does your photocopying? This may be called a one stop shop but then again what does the buying business expect to gain from this type of relationship? I certainly am leery about that kind of business. It seems like the person doing the selling is trying to make it a conquest to just get business. They attend every networking event they possibly can and then spray and pray, dragging along some unsuspecting soul to gain a business relationship. Does the wary buyer have any idea that this person is one thing to them and an entirely different person to another business? For example, I know a person that says they do sales training and as well as teach businesses to market their products. It seems quite innocent until you get under the covers and find out that their real expertise is in sales and not in marketing, two widely different fields in most people’s minds.

However, to continue the story, this person also offers leadership training, change management consulting, writing skills, and the list goes on. When talking to them, they are also a professional speaker that will talk on any subject you give them.

When you move from spray and pray to a more focused approach, it is then much easier to work with potential customers. You are moving from being everything with no expertise into a person that has something valuable to offer. Having focus gives you the ability to define your services and products in a more targeted manner. It will actually enable you to define your best customer according to your best services.

Bette Daoust, Ph.D. has been networking with others since leaving high school years ago. Realizing that no one really cared about what she did in life unless she had someone to tell and excite, She decided to find the best ways to get people’s attention, be creative in how she presented herself and products, getting people to know who she was, and being visible all the time. Her friends and colleagues have often dubbed her the “Networking Queen”.

Disapparence

For about 7 days, I disappeared from the Internet scene.

And my online business came to a complete standstill. I was miserable, hopelessly insane with anger, confused, desperate to get back online because my business and my income depended fully on my Internet access. I was nothing without it. I am a virtual person and if I don’t go online for a day, I would raise HELL.

This is how important being online is to my business. And let me tell you how my freelance and work at home business works.

The email

For starters, there’s the email. Gawd, I can’t live without my email. I communicate with my sister, father and aunts via email. I talk and gossip with my good friends over email. I communicate religiously with my clients over email. Without email, I don’t have a voice.

For a freelancer who is working from home, like me, using the email to communicate with clients, customers, friends and relatives is not unknown. In fact, I would advice freelancers and work at home parents to use emails liberally, even if you’re just using one of those free email accounts from Yahoo!, MSN, GMail, or Hotmail.whatever it is, it’s important for a work at home business person to maintain constant contact with his or her customers. It’s best that you respond to emails within 24 – 48 hours. Anything slower than that, you’ll be regarded as a snail-mailer or unresponsive or not committed.

The Messenger

Let’s take things a step up – instant communication doesn’t only involve communicating over email. For those of you who have not tried out either Yahoo! Messenger or MSN Messenger, you’re missing out on a whole lot here! You can use the Messenger service to communicate LIVE with your clients and customers and discuss things completely fee-free on the Internet. It’s not as good as making a phone call but if both of you can type relatively fast, using the MSN or Yahoo! Messenger is very effective. Not only are you able to send short (or long) messages to each other instantly, you can also talk to each other using the voice conference facilities or the webcam tool.

To me, the Messenger service is as important as my email.

My website

Without Internet access, I, obviously, was unable to update my website. I update my website with articles, tips and tricks on a daily basis and if I don’t do that, I might as well be out of the freelancing scene. I consider my website,  and maximize revenue tips as important marketing vehicles for my business. Through the website, I am able to bring attention to my services and products very subtly by driving traffic in with useful tips, resources, articles and other information. Despite being a Graphic Designer who can and have designed physical brochures and flyers for others and myself, my website remains to be one of the most important marketing tools for me.

My voice conference room

I use the conference room that I have been using for the past 1 year to communicate, provide training, hold presentations and just TALK to my clients freely on the Internet. I obtained my voice conference room at an amazingly affordable price from http://www.ttcglobaltalk.com and I have been using them happily for ages. And when I was out of the scene, I had a dream about not being able to talk to my clients – EVER! Yes, I was desperate.

And I am now back onlineI can’t tell you how thankful I am for it. Although I had to struggle and exchange ‘heated debates’ over the phone with the Internet service provider over here for the past week, I feel that I am now alive again and that my business is back on track.

Use online communication tools wisely because for a freelancer, it’s crucial.
